Dress Like Your Favourite Star – Celebrity Dresses At Lipsy

If you love celeb watching and checking out their celebrity dresses, then you should also check out Lipsy for some amazing celebrity style. Look out for party dresses that match the style of all of your celebrity dresses worn by Kelly Brook to Jennifer Lopez. Whether you have a summer party to go to or you are looking for amazing wedding guest dresses, you can get some great inspiration from the celebrities. Here is the low down on our favourite celebrity style for summer 2011.

Kelly Brook’s Style

Kelly Brook is a regular on the red carpet and always looks immaculate and polished with her long dark hair and amazing figure. She definitely knows how to pick out the best clothes to compliment her curves. She started off her career wearing a barely there pink sparkly dress to the Snatch premier back in 2000, perhaps not that stylish but definitely attention grabbing. Since then her style has evolved into a much more sophisticated look. She is often seen wearing pieces by her favourite designers but she is also not afraid of wearing high street clothes as well. It would be difficult to pin point just one style for Kelly Brook as she is constantly changing from cute retro to glamorous and sophisticated. She loves wearing red, black and greys and always opts for feminine and ladylike dresses. She also often wears bodycon dresses which really flaunt her figure.

Jennifer Lopez’s Style

Jennifer Lopez is another celebrity whose style has evolved over the years from her trademark velour tracksuits and hoop earrings to a much more sophisticated look with plenty of beautiful celebrity dresses. Another celebrity who also knows how to work the red carpet, she is clearly no longer ‘just Jenny from the block’. Jennifer Lopez is famous for her beautiful glow and her choice of nude, cream and white dresses compliment her skin tone perfectly. In recent years she has begun to wear some really beautiful and elegant dresses including the floaty jewel encrusted Zuhair Murad dress that she wore to the Met Ball. You can Jennifer’s style with soft floaty chiffon dresses in nude colours accessorised with perhaps just a little animal print!

Kate Middleton’s Style

One person who is going to be very much in the public eye over the next few weeks and who is also much admired for  her style is Princess to be, Kate Middleton. Ever since the announcement of the royal engagement at the end of last year, we have become obsessed by what Kate wears. She has a very simple and elegant style and favours dresses witha classic cut and mid length skirts. Her outfits do however usually have a modern twist to them. One of Kate’s most recognised looks is the blue dress that she wore for the announcement of the engagement. Kate is probably the best celebrity to watch for inspiration for wedding guest dresses as she is often photographed at formal occasions. She often wears beatifully draped pieces like chiffon dresses. You can get her look with this elegant blue dress by Lipsy.

Don’t forget to check out the celebrity dresses and wedding guest dresses at the royal wedding on 29th April for some more great style inspiration.

Celebrity Party Dresses For The Red Carpet Season At McBerry

The red carpet season is upon us and  not only is it great fun to check out the celebrity party dresses  and what everyone is wearing,we can also get inspiration on party wear for the season ahead. With the Grammys, Oscars, BAFTA’s and the Brit awards all going on, there is guaranteed to  be some amazing evening dresses on show.

The Grammy’s were a truly glittering affair with the biggest stars of the music industry walking the walk in their red carpet dresses. From Lady Gaga arriving in an egg to Emma Watson in  her neutral coloured asymmetrical dress, there was something for everyone from the bizarre to the very beautiful. With both Natalie Portman and Jessica Alba both expecting babies, they also proved that it is entirely possible to look amazing in a red carpet party dresses with a baby bump. Jessica Alba looked stunning in electric blue.

At the Brit awards Cheryl Cole arrived in a show stopping Stella McCartney sequin dress with a thigh high split. She took the unusual choice of wearing nude shoes instead of black and it really worked making her legs look super long.

Rhianna also made a big entrance with a very colourful concoction of an evening dress in purple and turquoise teamed with her red locks that definitely got every one’s attention although it attracted very mixed opinions. The dress was by Christian Dior Couture. Avril Lavigne proved she is a real rock chick even when it comes to red carpet dresses with a full skirted little black dress and neon streaks in  her long hair. If you love the retro look, you will love Sophie Ellis Bextor’s choice of red polka dot prom dress. Lisa Snowdon opted for an eye catching pop of colour in a neon yellow asymmetrical mini dress. Jessie J also rocked the red carpet in a thigh skimming Vivienne Westwood Couture corseted dress.

If you want to get a bit of that red carpet style and wear amazing celebrity party dresses, it can sometimes be difficult to find your favourite looks without the celebrity budget. That is why we are so excited about McBerry, a great place to find celebrity party dresses at great prices.

This beautiful cut out pleated skirt dress is almost identical to the one worn by style icon Cheryl Cole. Follow Cheryl’s lead and wear it with a ladylike and glamorous up do.

Emma Watson is one of the most admired celebrities at the moment. As the new face of Lancome, model for Burberry and part of a collaboration with People Tree everyone wants to know what she is wearing. This lace and feather dress is identical to the one she wore, one of the most wanted celebrity party dresses of the season.

With her own fashion label Danni Minogue is definitely one to follow in the style stakes. This glittering gold and silver dress  is just like the one that she wore for the Marie Claire cover shoot. It has also be worn by Cameron Diaz and Carmen Kass.

How To Wear Burlesque Inspired Party Clothes

With the Burlesque movie opening in the UK on Friday and Burlesque scene exploding in the UK over the last few years, it is not surprising that there is such a big trend for Burlesque inspired party clothes. Burlesque is all about glamour and the polished lady like look making it the ideal look for a party especially for those who love to wear unique dresses and look a little different.

The Burlesque film, which stars Cher and Christina Aguliera is all about a small town girl who starts working in an LA Neo Burlesque club run by a former burlesque dancer. Watching the film would definitely be a good place to start getting some inspiration for your Burlesque inspired party clothes. You could also try visiting one of the many burlesque clubs that are all over the UK and ideal for spotting unique dresses with in a range of burlesque inspired styles.

Adapt your own style

Although some of the outfits worn by Burlesque dancers on stage may be a little risque, you do not need to go this far when choosing your party clothes. There really is no need to wear nipple tassles (unless of course you want to). The best way to wear burlesque inspired party clothes is to adapt and elaborate on your own personal style. Any sort of vintage inspired dress will look great, if you love pink, wear a pink dress and if you love purple wear a purple dress. If you are a little shy you can just wear some accessories think rhinestone, ribbons, tassels and glamour with a little black dress.

Party dresses or skirts

Skirts or party dresses are essential to get the burlesque look. It would be  very difficult to  work that lady like glamour when wearing trousers. You could try a shift dress or corset dress of which their are plenty of different choices available in the shops at the moment. A sequin dress would also make a great choice as it screams glamour. You could also wear a pencil skirt with a glamorous blouse or corset top, which are again widely available in high street stores.

Accessories

High heels are an integral part of the burlesque style. Look for a pair in a vintage style. Seamed stockings are also a great way to get that vintage look to your party outfit without going too overboard. Apart from that just about anything goes when it comes to accessories including faux fur wraps, fascinators, glitzy statement jewellery and clutch bags. If you are wearing a sequin dress perhaps look for black accessories with feather, ribbons and bows to compliment the look.

Hair and Make Up

Again your hair and make up should be as elaborate as your sparkly sequin dress, this is not a time for understatement! You can find plenty of tutorials online for vintage hair styles. Make up should be immaculate and include dark eyeliner and bright red lipstick. It is also a good idea to paint your nails a bright red and even wear false eye lashes.

How To Choose A Cover Up For Your Christmas Party Dress

So you have picked out some party clothes for Christmas perhaps an on trend leopard dress, sequin dress or black lace dress, but with the weather now turning so cold you might need to think about a cover up to give you that little extra warmth for your Christmas party or night out. Finding a party cover up can be a little challenging as often none of your usual or daytime cover ups will not be suitable. You will want something a little bit glamorous that will compliment your beautiful dress but not overshadow it. Of course if you have opted for a simple party dress, you could pick a cover up that makes a statement. A Christmas party cover up is also ideal for covering your shoulders at the beginning of the night or whilst eating your meal and can then be taken off later for dancing.

For a dress that makes a real statement like a sequin or leopard print dress, a simple cover up will usually work the best. Short cropped jackets, cardigans, boleros and shrugs all make great party cover ups. A long coat of jacket will cover up too much of your dress. Wraps and capes are also a very stylish addition to most party clothes including trousers and a top.

Grey Faux Fur Cape

If you have opted for the seasons fifties style lace dress with a flared skirt and want to continue with the vintage theme, why not add a faux fur cape. Not only does it look very glamorous but it is also really warm. A contrasting colour will usually look best to show your faux fur cape off, perhaps a grey, brown or cream colour with a black dress.

Black Beaded Cape

If you have a black dress and prefer all black party clothes then you could add some interest and sparkle to your outfit with a black beaded cape. The sparkle will draw the eyes up towards your face so be sure to put on some sparkly party make up to complete your look.

Simple Black Bolero

If you have chosen an elaborate party dress like a sequin dress or animal print dress, you will probably want a fairly simple cover up to balance the look and keep it stylish. This 3/4 sleeve style of bolero looks really classic and has the added benefit of having sleeves for some extra warmth.

Lace Jacket

For a smart tailored or shift dress, a structured jacket will look great. We love this lace jacket which could work great for daytime parties or even perhaps a work Christmas lunch as well as evening events.

Taffeta Cover Up

For a formal evening occasion or to wear with a formal evening dress, a taffeta cover up is suitably formal but also quite simple so as not to detract from the  dress. This cover up is both cropped and open allowing the evening dress to hang freely.

What ever party cover up you choose to wear, try and balance the overall look of your party clothes and accessories so that you have just the right amount of sparkle and glamour and most important of all remember to enjoy yourself.

Top 10 Lipsy Party Dresses

Lipsy are without doubt best known for their fabulous party dresses, and with Christmas almost here (EEKS!) you may be interested in knowing what their top 10 party dresses are.

The top ten lipsy women’s party frocks are very democratic and as a result a great barometer of what style girls are buying around the UK at the moment, and as you would expect the clamour for Glamour in the run up to Christmas is prominent, there are lots of embellishments and glitz, but as you would expect from one of the best known party dress names, a variety of styles which are very hot and on-trend for the moment such as Maxi dresses, one shoulder dresses, body con dresses and bandeau dresses.

One should consider that this top 10 is for the style of dress and not necessarily the colour, so don’t be afraid to buy one just because they are popular, whilst there is always a risk that you may end up at a party with someone wearing the same dress as you, Lipsy’s dresses are available in different colours, so you shouldn’t worry too much about that happening. We always advise that you should always choose a colour which complements your skin tone, and emphasise your personal brand/look with appropriate accessories and make-up, that’s the thing that will give your look the lift necessary to stand out from anyone else. The only way to minimise the risk of duplication is of course to have a one off piece made which has a one-off price as well.

Velvet One Shoulder Cocktail Dress And The New Look For Emma Watson.

Stunning - Emma Watson (photo PA)

Wow! hasn’t Emma Watson blossomed into a fine young lady? here she is wearing a beautiful Draped Velvet one shoulder cocktail dress by revived French Label Vionnet. She’s also sporting her new look which we think is sensational, and with the luxurious Velvet fabric making a lavish comeback she is Uber trendy too.

To me and most likely the rest of us, it doesn’t seem such a long time ago that Emma appeared in the very first Harry Potter film as Hermione Granger at the tender age of nine. But with several blockbusters behind her that any actor would be proud of, she has the world at her feet at the tender age of only 20.

However with Emma’s notoriety, she has lately become the target of not only the paperazzi but of the fashion press too, and is regarded as somewhat of a fashionista with her celebrity endorsement of the ethical fashion brand People Tree. Regularly papped at various Red Carpet events around the globe, her fans and the fans of fashion alike are eager to discover what creations she will be wearing.

By the evidence of the image above no the wonder she so popular as she looks just sensational as she’s seen here premièring her new look at the swanky Claridge’s hotel, an event to celebrate Warner Brothers acquisition of Leavesden Studios who make the Harry Potter film franchise. Her pixie style hair which we thinks suits her so well, and her fair skin contrasting with Deep red lipstick, she looks all women and not the kid we’ve become accustomed to seeing in the movies.

The dress itself is a stunning velvet and satin one shoulder cocktail dress by Vionnet the French haute-couture brand. Originally Established by Madeleine Vionnet in Paris back in 1912, The brand which had recently lost its way, has been giving a whole new impetus with its acquisition In 2008 by Italian entrepreneurs Matteo Marzotto and Gianni Castiglioni. They have vowed to re-create the Vionnet heritage brand whilst building a modern fashion house with the elegance and sophistication of the original Vionnet brand at its heart. Other than Emma Watson, the brand has some very famous celebrity clients such as Cameron Diaz, Carey Mulligan and Catherine Zeta-Jones to name a few.

The cocktail dress that Emma is wearing of course is so hot, it combines a number of trends which are so of the moment such as Velvet, Draping and of course the ever popular one shoulder dress style. There’s no better way to get inspiration for your party Dress than to look at what celebrity dresses are out there and Emmas Asymmetrical cocktail Dress is a prime example.

Now we may not have Emma’s budget to indulge in our fashion fantasies, but as always with Party Dresses we try to draw inspiration from haute couture brands and the catwalk to give you more affordable alternatives.

This One Shoulder Velvet Dress by Oasis for example is 3 dresses in one almost as it not only a classic LBD but with a bodycon shape as well as a Asymmetrical cocktail dress. Made from a sumptuous velvet which is soft to the touch this an ideal one shoulder cocktail dress for a more formal occasion and adds a twist to the LBD. Plus if you’re quick you can get an additional 20% off the price by using the voucher code STYLECODE20.

This Love Label One Shoulder Velvet Dress is so on trend this season, the plush fabric and the daring bodycon design makes this dress an head turning evening dress. The clever design of this dress with its bandage style velvet ribbons and one shoulder twist emphasises your curves while the sheer fabric pulls the look together. The dress has gentle ruche detail for added texture. For a rock chic look, pair with statement cut-out heels and sheer tights with and a matching clutch for a classy evening combo.

Another classic look is the One Shoulder Velvet Tuck Sleeve Dress, a Stunning one shoulder velvet dress with gathered detail on the sleeve. It’s perfect party dress when worn with sky high heels and a sequinned clutch, the perfect body con cocktail dress with a twist.

Finally we come to the Draped beaded dress By Karen Millen, this One shoulder draped jersey dress has contrast silk panels and hand embellished fringe detail to shoulder with an asymmetric hem. Despite not being Velvet it instead offers the draping whichis very popular trend at the moment and featured on Emma’s dress to such great effect.
