Is it just me or does this happen to everyone around about Easter Time or maybe I just about to pee my pants when I hear about a 50% off sale of designer Party Dresses?
Though it could just be coincidence but every year around about this time, I just get the funniest buzz of excitement in my tummy, does that happen to you too? For no apparent reason around about easter time I get so excited about this time of year, and I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s a throwback to my schools days, when you knew your were going to have 2 weeks off, which is strange, as not only did I leave school a long time ago, but neither am I expecting any time off at all over Easter, apart from the long week end, which I suppose is something to get excited a little about? Or maybe its the thought of all those Easter eggs….Yuuuummmmy, though being quite grown up now means I’ll likely not get any at all… or maybe its just a subconscious trigger in which I’m reminded that Spring has well and truly sprung and we can look forward to several months of long days, and hopefully warm weather.

After months of talk and media coverage, the royal wedding is almost upon us, so not long to decide on those all important wedding guest outfits. You did get an invite didn’t you? no us neither, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t make the most of that extra day off work with a right royal party to celebrate Will and Kate’s nuptials in style.
It is of course going to be the wedding of the year and probably the decade and it would seem such a shame to let the occasion go by plus there is no better excuse to get dressed up in your most fab party dresses.
Even though not many people have been invited to the royal wedding, there will no doubt be countless other couples choosing the same weekend as the royal couple, so you may well be needing those wedding guest outfits. Choosing wedding guest outfits can be a task that strikes fear into even the most stylish of girls. It isn’t that difficult though just follow these simple rules. Wedding guest outfits should be smart and look like you have made an effort, they should not however be white, try to over shadow the bride in anyway or be too revealing. Try and choose something that fits with your usual style and that you feel comfortable in. Smart dresses teamed with a pair of heels make perfect wedding guest outfits.

For SS11 tea length dresses are right on trend, making a refreshing change to the mini and maxi dresses that have been so popular lately. The rise in popularity of the tea length dresses is probably partly due to the increase in interest in retro styles and vintage fashion. The tea dress is a traditional style but can be brought up to date with a modern print or fabric.
Tea length dresses are usually about knee length or just below. They are a flattering choice and also fit well with the seasons retro and ladylike styles. They are great for those who don’t want show too much leg and prefer a party dress that is not too revealing. The gently flaring skirt of a tea length dress makes it practical and suitable for a range of occasions from parties to dresses for weddings but they can also work well as a ladies day dress for everyday wear. The versatility of the tea dress is defined by how you accessorise it. A pair of heels and a clutch bag will turn it into a great party dress whilst some flat ballet pumps will make it more suitable for everyday wear. An empire line dress also has a flattering cut with a seam just under the bust to allow the fabric to skim over the stomach, hips and thighs making this style of dress particularly good for those with pear or apple shape figures.
This Floral Tea Dress is a romantic choice with its feminine pink colour, its floral pattern, frills and chiffon fabric. It is the perfect ladies day dress for a warm summers day and would look great with a pair of gladiator sandals. For a really contrasting look, you could also add a leather biker jacket for the evening.
This Daisy Print Tea Dress takes a retro style and brings it right up to date with its striking pattern and waterfall frills down the side. Wear it by day with a blazer for the office or by night with a pair of killer heels for a night out with the girls. The high neck of this dress is especially flattering for those with a smaller bust.
This Light grey striped tea dress is a contemporary take on the trend for tea length dresses and fits very well with the minimalist look that will also be big this summer. It would look great with neutral coloured accessories for an elegant but understated outfit.
Another modern take on a classic style, this Petite Butterfly tea dress features a striking geometric print that is crying out to be accessorised with some bright colours. A bright blue hand bag or red shoes will turn this dress into an incredibly eye catching outfit that will work for all sorts of occasions.
This paisley border dressis a great boho version of the new tea length dresses for SS11. Wear it with gladiator sandals and a denim jacket for a relaxed but very stylish outfit for summer festivals.

Summer festivals are a bit like one big long party and they definitely need a very specific type of party clothes. If you are lucky enough to have tickets to any of the big festivals (or smaller more intimate ones) this summer, then you should put in some careful thought about what you will be wearing. With the Coachella festival in the US already over, you can always check out the street style pictures for inspiration and to see which festival fashion is going to be big news this year.
And with this weekend marking the start of the summer festival season with the fist event of the summer BBC radio one’s big weekend in Carlisle, its a great introduction to what people are wearing this for summer festival fashion especially as its going GaGA crazy this year, you can see the whole event live streamed here.
If you are going to a festival, despite being all excited about the whole adventure, you will need to consider the practicalities of festival going, mainly the weather. If it is hot you will need to dress to keep cool and keep the sun off you, but if it is wet you will need to be prepared for a lot of mud. Festivals are a great place to show off your individuality and pretty much anything goes as long as you will feel comfortable wearing it.
Whatever you choose to wear to a festival, it should not be something that you would be really upset about ruining. Save your expensive designer clothes for another day and consider investing in jumpsuits, cheap maxi dresses or beach dresses that can be worn with either boots or sandals depending on the weather. Denim shorts are also a good choice for festivals if the weather is hot but are also a practical choice with a pair of hunter wellies if the ground is particularly muddy.
At Coachella this year some of the key looks included seventies inspired floral maxi dresses worn with floppy hats, the lace dress (spotted on Katy Perry, Alexa Chung and Whitney Port), asymmetrical hemmed dresses and loose fitting or cropped t shirts. Although some of these looks seem quite casual, they can be coverted to festival party clothes with just a few simple accessories. Bold and bright prints were also popular with anything from a leopard print dress to abstract tribal print or tie dye fitting the bill perfectly.
Hair flowers, tribal jewellery, hats, headbands, belts, socks and fringed bags were everywhere. Just one or two carefully chosen accessories can transform cheap maxi dresses into something amazing or a beach dresses into a fabulous festival outfit. Sun hats are also particularly useful for protecting yourself from the sun. Don’t forget some shades to complete the rock and roll look and keep the sun out of your eyes so that you can see your favourite band.
Here are some of my picks of the best festival fashion out there from cheap maxi dresses to beach dresses and fabulous fun accessories.
