The bust area features some of the afore mention rouching to match that around the waist, The Stripe Party Dress also features one shoulder strap and an increasing popular feature of an exposed zip down the rear of the dress.

Red party dresses are the perfect way to stand out from the crowd this Christmas. Perhaps not the obvious choice of colour when it comes to a dress for a Christmas party, but red party dresses can also look sophisticated, feminine, chic, festive and very stylish. The perfect choice if you want to look so hot that you sizzle. The LDB (little black dress) has a lot going for it in terms of versatility, but if you really want a party dress with the ‘Wow’ factor, the red party dress or cocktail dress is the answer.
You can pick from a range of different shades of red this season from bright to berry reds. Choose the red that really makes your complexion glow for the hottest party look. Those with dark hair will tend to look best in dark red shades whilst those with blond hair will look amazing in scarlets. Another great tip for choosing your red party dress is to keep it simple, the colour will provide enough of feature and a reason for people to look, there is no need to over complicate things.
Gain inspiration from the red dresses on the catwalk for autumn and winter 2010 which were a refreshing change to neutral colours that are also popular this year. At Richard Nichol there was a softly tailored one shouldered shift dress, the ultimate in elegance. Bottega Veneta also featured red with a skirt just above knee height worn with fishnets, a difficult look to pull off but can look amazing if done right. Alexander McQueen’s collection featured spectacular and elaborate red brocade dresses and an embellished floor length gown.
Here are some of our favourite red dresses.

Lipsy One Shouldered Gathered Dress
This Lipsy dress is seriously hot with its shiny satin and asymmetrical gathered style. It needs an equally hot pair of heels to show it off at its best. A really daring dress and definitely a head turner.

Kimberly Wyatt is a singer, song writer, dancer, model, actress and choreographer who is best known for part in the former American pop and dance group, Pussycat Dolls. Kimberly is now proving that there is definitely life after the Pussycat Dolls. Kimberly left the chart topping girl band earlier this year to pursue her own solo career. Not only is she now one of the judges on hot TV programme ‘Got to Dance’, but she is also finding just a little bit of time to get out there and party herself. Not surprisingly, Kimberly is one of a long line of celebrities who choose to wear Lipsy party dresses when she wants to look stunning for a night out. Lipsy London is a label which is perfect for the party girl with attitude. The dresses range from body con to frilly and romantic designs but all of them are designed to get you noticed for the right reasons.
In the past Kimberly’s style has been described as a little risque with her clothing very much associated with the Pussycat dolls including corsets and PVC leggings. She is now getting the chance to explore and develop the more feminine side to her style bit still with a bit of attitude. She likes to mix up her outfits with clothes from British Designers like Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen and pieces from the high street. Kimberly Wyatt is also the face of the brand Lipsy watch collection, a range of watches mix of quilted, cuff and chain styles with embellishment which will be the ideal accessory for a Lipsy party dress.
The nude and pink tones of Lipsy party dresses look perfect with Kimberly’s colouring but Lipsy also has a wide range of Lipsy party dresses in different colours to suit everyone. Kimberly favours the soft lines and textures of the more romatic and frilled or chiffon dresses which look great when contrasted with some tougher looking black accessories.
Kimberly was pictured (first picture above) after a night out at the studio Valbonne in London. She wore the Lipsy Grecian drape dress with a cropped leather jacket, silver clutch and chunky bangles for a look that screams rock n roll party girl. The dress has an elaborate design with a halterneck, fitted bodice and tulip skirt decorated with elegantly draped pieces of fabric. Grecian style draped dresses are huge news at the moment and Kimberly’s choice was the perfect choice for a night out. Her long quiffed hair is the perfect finishing touch for a polished but funky look.

With a delicate strapless chiffon pleated bustier top, a fitted satin waistband and tiered ruffle skirt with contrast chiffon draping, this dress works the seasons trend for romantic ruffles and frills to the maximum. So you have picked out some party clothes for Christmas perhaps an on trend leopard dress, sequin dress or black lace dress, but with the weather now turning so cold you might need to think about a cover up to give you that little extra warmth for your Christmas party or night out. Finding a party cover up can be a little challenging as often none of your usual or daytime cover ups will not be suitable. You will want something a little bit glamorous that will compliment your beautiful dress but not overshadow it. Of course if you have opted for a simple party dress, you could pick a cover up that makes a statement. A Christmas party cover up is also ideal for covering your shoulders at the beginning of the night or whilst eating your meal and can then be taken off later for dancing.
For a dress that makes a real statement like a sequin or leopard print dress, a simple cover up will usually work the best. Short cropped jackets, cardigans, boleros and shrugs all make great party cover ups. A long coat of jacket will cover up too much of your dress. Wraps and capes are also a very stylish addition to most party clothes including trousers and a top.
Grey Faux Fur Cape
If you have opted for the seasons fifties style lace dress with a flared skirt and want to continue with the vintage theme, why not add a faux fur cape. Not only does it look very glamorous but it is also really warm. A contrasting colour will usually look best to show your faux fur cape off, perhaps a grey, brown or cream colour with a black dress.
Black Beaded Cape
If you have a black dress and prefer all black party clothes then you could add some interest and sparkle to your outfit with a black beaded cape. The sparkle will draw the eyes up towards your face so be sure to put on some sparkly party make up to complete your look.
Simple Black Bolero
If you have chosen an elaborate party dress like a sequin dress or animal print dress, you will probably want a fairly simple cover up to balance the look and keep it stylish. This 3/4 sleeve style of bolero looks really classic and has the added benefit of having sleeves for some extra warmth.
For a smart tailored or shift dress, a structured jacket will look great. We love this lace jacket which could work great for daytime parties or even perhaps a work Christmas lunch as well as evening events.
Taffeta Cover Up
For a formal evening occasion or to wear with a formal evening dress, a taffeta cover up is suitably formal but also quite simple so as not to detract from the dress. This cover up is both cropped and open allowing the evening dress to hang freely.
What ever party cover up you choose to wear, try and balance the overall look of your party clothes and accessories so that you have just the right amount of sparkle and glamour and most important of all remember to enjoy yourself.
Underwear or lingerie was a big inspiration on the SS10 catwalks from the cream and boned bodice at Bottega Veneta, corset style tops at Dior, Dolce & Gabbana and Jean Paul Gaultier to Christopher Kane’s see through tops revealing crisp white bra’s.
At Louise Goldin, Marc Jacobs and Just Cavalli, satin bras provided a feature by being worn over the top of clothes. The underwear as outerwear theme encompasses both the overtly sexy bras, corsets and suspender belts and also a more subtle and subversive satin teddies and slips with a vintage feel. There were also big knickers at Yves St Laurent, Alexander Wang and Sophia Kokosalakia, a micro trend that has been simmering away for a few seasons now.
Whilst the underwear as outerwear trend looks great on the catwalk, it is perhaps difficult to see how this trend could translate into everyday life. It is a very daring look and showing your underwear it a just a little taboo. Is wearing your underwear on the outside and clothes that are barely more than underwear taking things a little too far?
Well, we think this trend can work as long as it is done right and is worn for the right occasions. For a day in the office, perhaps not, but as a body con party dress, it shows distinct potential. The more subtle camisole style tops could even work for workwear when worn under a suit jacket but we would recommend extreme caution when trying out this look for work. It is all in the translation and the way that it is cleverly combined to be slightly revealing but not showing too much. Just a little glimpse here and there is all that is needed to capture the essence of this trend in a way that can work for just about anyone.
Unless you are incredibly skilled at styling your own outfits or very daring, you would probably be best to stick to an underwear inspired dress perhaps a body con party dress or slip dress as opposed to wearing your own underwear outside of your clothes. There are probably very few who could make this work and it would require the most beautiful of underwear teamed with just the right top and a huge dose of confidence. If done wrong, you could end up looking like you got yourself a bit confused when getting dressed!
If you really want to exploit the underwear as outerwear trend to its full potential and forget all about subtly, try this lace corset party dress from Goddiva.
For a prettier vintage inspired party dress we love this sleeveless lace shift with frills by Goddiva.
This amazing Addi Brassier Exposed Corset Dress by Sportmax is a great designer piece featuring underwear as outerwear in a daring but very stylish way.
This delicate Lace Dress by Karen Millen is a very subtle interpretation of the lingerie inspiration with its slip like appearance glimpses of lace.
It is possible to wear underwear inspired bodycon dresses without wearing full on black lace. This gingham dress by Oasis proves that this trend can also look cute and would look great as a summer party dress with some wedge sandals.
For a formal party dress, we love this Ivory shift dress by Debut at Debenhams which shows that it is entirely possible to look very respectable and sophisticated whilst wearing underwear inspired dresses.
