Boohoo Turn The Clock Back For Vintage Clothing For AW11
Back To The Future – Vintage Clothing For AW11
This week we saw seasons change, not only meteorologically but also from a fashion stand point too, and such is the ying and yang of life, that whilst one may feel a cold shiver at the impending prospect of yet another dreary Autumn, this is completely offset by the warm glow of excitement and anticipation that such a change can only mean that a new AW11 season of spectacular fashion has arrived for us girls!
Believe me when I say that this AW11 season is truly something become excited about too, as it seems that over the past year or so the general interest in vintage clothing has taken a foothold in the fashion conciousness of the nation, but this is the season it goes totally main stream… with the likes of Burberry, Dolce & Gabanna, Gucci, Lanvin and Marc Jacobs all featuring glamorous vintage inspired collections inspired by the mid 20th century.
A Vintage performance For Boohoo
Boohoo of course are no slouches when it comes to reflecting the catwalks trends of the season, and as usual have completely nailed AW11 key vintage clothing looks complete with their own spin in their newly launch collection. At their recent press launch they allowed the fashion journalists and bloggers (including yours truly) loose on the collection before it hit the online store and we were all suitably impressed with the stunning collections all with their genesis firmly routed in the eras common to the vintage clothing influence of 1940′s 50′s 60′s and 70′s.
Classic Styling With A Twist
So what of the Boohoo vintage clothing collections? Below we’ve highlight three of the collections that we predict to be the biggest hits for boohoo this season. In these themes, Boohoo draws inspiration from three distinct eras, but add their own modern twist to make them uniquely Boohoo.
The 60′s pop collection draws on the time when twiggy was at the height of her (1st) modelling career, everything was mini, including the skirts, dresses and at the car of course, sloping shoulders, bracelet sleeves and beehive hair doos were all the fashion, and will be again this season.
70′s country is a an eclectic mix of California hippy influenced casual meets hedonistic Studio 54, with maybe a little glam thrown in, mixed with a smidgin of Purdy and the quintessential 70′s pussy bow blouse (Remember The New Avengers anyone?).
Finally, for Vintage Emporium think Fur Stoles, pencil skirts and cinching waist belts thinner than your index finger. These were the days of 1940′s and despite rationing and shortages the fashion was exuberant, outgoing and ever so slightly outrageous, and will surely turn some heads on the high street on a Saturday afternoon!
