One of, if not the most outstandingly beautiful ladies evening dresses at this years Oscars was a purple maxi dress by Rodarte. The star of the recent blockbuster film, Black Swan, glowed with her baby bump elegantly draped with an empire line off the shoulder dress.

Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett opted for a much more fitted and body con style of dress which was again maxi length and a purple/ burgundy colour. It had an eyecatching cut out back was actually made of lace which was pretty much see through. The dress was designed by Dolce and Gabbana.

Mila also starred in black Swan. She choose to wear an Elie Saab evening dress in a powdery shade of lilac. It draped beautifully and again featured some beautiful lace detailing.

Michelle’s choice was perhaps one of the more classic styles of celebrity dresses at the Oscars and stunnigly beautiful. The white shimmering, beaded Chanel dress was a simple column style with short sleeves and a floor length skirt.

Kate Blanchett

Kate is always know for her unusual choice of ladies evening dresses and this years Oscars was no different. She wore a lavender Givenchy dress with an interesting embellished design , in yellow!

Helena Bonham Carter

Another star who always makes the headlines with her choice of ladies evening dresses for red carpet events, Helena opted for a glamorous gothic dress. The dress which featured long sleeves and a velvet bodice was put together by costume designer Colleen Atwood.

Hillary Swank

The actress choose a Gucci strapless dress with a feathered skirt and graduating grey colour. It was simply stunning with a metallic finish which just have a hint of shimmer.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth also opted for a metallic dress. Her simple cut choice by Calvin Klein had a futuristic feel about it with a deep cut notch at the front of the dress.
